Financial Aid

Whatever money we take in from our Donor Closet operations above our expenses is made available to assist persons with MS residing in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana,Utah, Nevada and Alaska who are experiencing short-term financial difficulty. And what we give out is done almost exclusively in collaboration with other non-profit agencies - principally the Northwest Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

To apply for financial assistance from MSHH, first contact the National MS Society and speak to an MS Navigator. They will partner with you to explore all options including assistance from MSHH Donor Closet. MS Navigators help identify solutions and provide access to the resources you are looking for. Call 1-800-344-4867 or www.contactusnmss@nmss.org to connect to an MS Navigator.

Additionally, if it is help with medical or mobility equipment that you are experiencing difficulty obtaining, you may wish to contact our General Manager, Gene Borden, directly at (425) 712-1807.

Donations gladly accepted - but with some exceptions

In 1999, our founder, Bill Brayer, accepted several no longer needed pieces of medical equipment with the request that he find a way to get the equipment into the hands of someone else who could use them. Today we continue that same mission. We are all volunteers and we continue to accept certain Medical and Mobility equipment that is in good enough condition that can be used by someone else.

Here is what we are accepting now: Mobility Scooters, non custom-made Power Chairs, Hospital Beds, Hospital Bed Tables, Hospital Bed Mattresses, Hoyer lifts, Lift Chairs, Bedside Commodes, Shower Chairs, Transfer Benches, 4 Wheel Rollators, Walkers, Wheelchairs, Transport Chairs, Roho Cushions, Foam Cushions for Wheelchairs, Canes and unopened incontinence supplies.

Sorry, there are some things that we do not take including: CPAP machines, beds that are not true hospital beds, medicines, syringes and food items.

Our wish is that the equipment that you donate is in good and serviceable condition. And, if at all possible, please drop off the equipment at our stores during hours that we are open - 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM Tuesday - Saturday in Edmonds. In Tacoma we accept donations Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. And in Spokane we are open and available to accept donations Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and Thursday from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Finally, we are a 501 (C)3 non-profit registered in the State of Washington with a UBI# 601991934. This means that your donations to MSHH are tax deductible if they were purchased by you. If they were paid for by insurance, Medicare or the VA you would not get a tax credit. But we sure would appreciate your donations.
